Born in The Hague, Netherlands in 1968, I now live and work on a small island in Puget Sound, near Seattle, WA. I received a BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1990. I have taught art in the local public schools, had my own interior design consulting business, and for many years worked as a software engineering product manager, all while maintaining my painting practice. I currently devote most of my time to painting. My other interests include my family, hiking, camping, gardening, and sailing.
My work is a visual representation of an emotion. The recognizable elements of my paintings – landscape, interior, plants, animals, people - create a narrative setting in which the emotion unfolds. The subjects of my work can be intimate and personal, as well as a reaction to the world at large. I am stirred by nature, both the natural world outside, and human nature within.
